
Life Skills for a Stressful World Seminar
Treat the CAUSE, not only the SYMPTOM!!!
This was the foundation of my mission as a Chiropractor. Constantly, in school and in seminars this concept was crystallized in our minds. The idea that modern medicine only temporarily masks symptoms of the body, and we as Chiropractors go to the ROOT CAUSE, being spinal misalignment which irritates nerves, causing "danger signals" in the body known as symptoms: Headaches, neck pain, back pain, numbness/tingling in the extremities, digestive disturbances, distressed breathing, overly irritable mood, loss of energy and fatigue.
After practicing for 6 years, I (with the invaluable help of my great staff) have built a busy, lucrative, referral- practice based on success in treating these conditions (and many more). I knew that in most cases I was treating the root causes, which were spinal distortions caused by physical stresses such as improper sleep and work posture, sports and work-related injuries, car accidents, and repetitive motion.
What bothered me was that I didn't have a methodology to help the people whose cause was clearly NOT PHYSICAL. In other words, EMOTIONAL STRESS was the underlying root cause of their spinal misalignments, which would cause their adjustments (treatments) to take longer to hold, or in some extreme cases, to be ineffective. I concluded that the level of healing would be enhanced if I could only find a way to help people address their unwanted emotional stress.
There has been only a small handful of solutions that have been given-the medical field uses a pharmaceutical approach, but other than seeking advice from a counselor, or taking yoga classes, exercise, or other various therapies, the issue of HOW WE PERCEIVE THE STRESSES IN OUR ENVIRONMENT hadn't been fully looked into. After studying under Dr. John Demartini, featured guest expert in "The Secret", a huge breakthrough was uncovered.
What if we were to see our stress as simply an illusion?
Dr. John Demartini states that stress is simply a mis perception of chaos. In other words, stress happens when we are failing to see the hidden blessings behind each crisis that we perceive.
What if there was a methodology to put order to the apparent chaos that runs our daily lives?
